Upsets to watch out for in Week 1

Each week throughout the college football season, I will have five upsets to watch out for. I am not on record saying that these upsets will happen, but there is potential of it happening.

3: TCU vs. LSU at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tx. Sat. 9 p.m. on ESPN
With redshirt senior quarterback Casey Pachall returning to the team after his drunk driving arrest last October and redshirt senior running back Waymon James coming back from a torn ACL suffered against Kansas last season, the Horned Frogs are primed to knock off the Tigers. The Tigers strength the last few seasons has been their defense, but it might need more than that in order to survive in Jerryworld. Senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger must show that he is more than a game manager in order for the Tigers to avoid losing the season opener.
2: Western Michigan at Michigan State, Fri. 8 p.m. on BTN
With senior quarterback Andrew Maxwell winning the starting position earlier this week— that on its own merit could be a harbinger of things to come in this contest. The Broncos have nothing lose with first year head coach P.J. Fleck and will stop at nothing to make the Spartans’ home opener as miserable as possible. With Leveon Bell in the National Football League, the Spartans could have trouble on every facet of offense.
1: Boise State at Washington, Sat. 10 p.m. on Fox Sports 1
The Boise State Broncos might be caught off guard as the Washington Huskies re-christen Husky Stadium on this night. It will be a test for senior quarterback Joe Southwick as he will face off against the team that he played against in the Las Vegas Bowl last season. However, Huskies senior quarterback Keith Price will have a say in this one as he has shown on multiple occasions that he can put up 300 yards in any given game and can hang up a lot of points, so it expect this one to be shootout in Seattle.
