Live Game Thread Recap: No. 2 Wisconsin 49, Marquette 38



Greetings from Milwaukee, WI, where it is cold outside, but hot inside for this in-state showdown between the No. 2-ranked Wisconsin Badgers and the Marquette Golden Eagles at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Wisconsin is coming off a 78-70 loss against Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 3, while Marquette defeated Tennessee 67-59 in the Orlando Classic on Nov. 30.

Frank Kaminsky leads the Badgers in scoring with 16.6 per game, while Duane Wilson leads the Golden Eagles with 14.0.

The Badgers come into today's game with a 7-1 record while the Golden Eagles are 4-3.

The atmosphere is electric at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The arena has filled up and the Marquette crowd is ready for this one.

The up-tempo pace favors Marquette despite trailing and if can stay in its favor, then it will be close throughout.

Wisconsin slowing the pace down is showing on Marquette's end as Carlino air balled a three-pointer from the wing and went out.

Both teams struggling from the perimeter as Wisc is 1-5 while Marquette is 1-3.

Despite leading by seven, Wisconsin is relying way too much on perimeter shooting as it is 1-7.

The Badgers get a three to fall as Duje Dukan hits one to put them ahead of Marquette 17-7 with 8:16 left.

Marquette has struggled to string anything together in the half court sets as Wisconsin's big men have had their way in the paint.

Marquette's zone is starting to cause problems for Kaminsky as he is getting very little room from the defenders to operate.
