After leading his team to huge wins last week over St. John's and Villanova, Seton Hall junior guard Sterling Gibbs was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Jan. 5.

Gibbs led the Pirates in scoring last week, averaging 22.5 points and 6.0 assists in both games.

In the St. John's victory, he scored 25 and converted on 5-of-7 three-point attempts, dished out eight assists and never turned the ball over.

The momentum carried over to the win against Villanova as Gibbs scored 12 of his 20 points in the second half.

Gibbs also leads Seton Hall with a team best 16.6 points per game, to go along with a conference-leading 50 percent (33-of-66) from the three-point line.

The No. 19 Pirates (12-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) return to action Wednesday as it travels to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on Xavier at 7 p.m. ET on the CBS Sports Network.
