Chris Fowler and Joe Tessitore highlight ESPN/ABC's 2014 College Football announcers

If you had told me last year that Chris Fowler and Joe Tessitore would be a part of two of the top three announcing teams, I would have not believed anybody.

Heck, most people figured Brent Musburger would remain the voice of ABC's Saturday Night Football, but it turned out not to be the case.

The script has flipped this season as not only Fowler and Tessitore are game announcers in prime time on ABC and ESPN, respectively, but on-site pre-game hosts. Fowler will return as the host of ESPN's College Gameday, while Tessitore will host the inaugural season of SEC Network's SEC Nation.

Whether we see them pull double duty every weekend or not, these moves have signaled the beginning of a new era on ABC and ESPN.

Fowler will work with fellow College Gameday partner Kirk Herbstreit and sideline reporter Heather Cox on ABC's Saturday Night Football, while Tessitore will form a new ESPN prime time team with Brock Huard and sideline reporter Shannon Spake.

Musburger, who was the long-time voice of ABC's College Football since 1990, will be downgraded to the SEC Network as him and former Florida starting quarterback Jesse Palmer will call games on Saturdays.

Who could forget about the ever popular tandem of Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge, who enter their sixth season on ESPN's College Football Primetime package.

Assuming Fowler and Herbstreit get to call one of the College Football Playoff semifinals and the national title game, one would assume that either Nessler or Tessitore's team will get the second semi.

Only time will tell, but here are the game announcers for ESPN/ABC's 2014 coverage per ESPN MediaZone:
