Thursday's Big Ten Roundup

Here is the roundup of Thursday's Big Ten action:

Minnesota 42, Eastern Illinois 20

Sophomore quarterback Mitch Leidner ran for two scores and threw a touchdown pass in Minnesota’s 42-20 season opening victory over Eastern Illinois.
Leidner went 9-for-17 passing with 144 yards, while senior running back David Cobb ran for 71 yards on 14 carries.
Freshman Berkley Edwards, the brother of former Michigan and NFL wide receiver Braylon Edwards scored two touchdowns on the ground in his first collegiate game.
Rutgers 41, Washington State 38
Rutgers junior running back Paul James ran for 173 yards on 29 carries and scored three touchdowns, giving his second straight season-opening 100-yard performance.
James scored his third and final touchdown with 3:24 left to put to Scarlet Knights ahead for good in its first game as a member of the Big Ten.
Senior quarterback Gary Nova threw for 281 yards and completed 16-of-27 passes in the victory.
