Creighton's McDermott Picks Up 400th Win against DePaul (With Video)

Behind 18 points from James Milliken, coach Greg McDermott picked up his 400th win as Creighton (13-15, 4-11 Big East) defeated DePaul (12-17, 6-10 Big East) 75-62 Tuesday night.

McDermott talked about the 400th win and winning the offensive rebound battle in this clip:

Off the bench, Will Artino put together an all-around effort with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go along with seven rebounds.

After Jamee Crockett’s three from the baseline got DePaul on the scoreboard, things would start to turn the wrong way as Creighton went on an 18-3 run to go ahead 19-6.

In that stretch, the Blue Demons’ top two scorers, Myke Henry and Billy Garrett Jr. were held scoreless, while the Blue Jays would make four triples on offense.

Creighton’s lead would stretch to as many as 15 before DePaul would counter with a 10-2 run to pull make it 24-17.

Both teams exchanged baskets as the Blue Jays would go into the locker room with a 34-27 advantage.

The second half saw DePaul erase an earlier 15-point deficit as it tied with Creighton at 43 with 12:46 left in regulation on a three-point make from the wing by Forrest Robinson.

The Blue Jays would counter on its next possession with a pretty pass from Devin Brooks to Artino and the foul to complete the three-point play.

Creighton would lead for the remainder of the game as it came away with the 13-point win.
Looking Ahead:

Both teams return to action on Feb. 28 as Creighton travels to take on Seton Hall, while DePaul hosts No. 23 Butler on Senior Day.
