The Top 5 moments in Michigan-Ohio State history

Special moments are what makes rivalry games stand on their own thrones.

The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry is no different as I have compiled the five greatest moments in the 112 meetings.

5) Ohio State at Michigan 1987: Ohio State sends coach Earle Bruce out with a win

In his last regular-season game as Buckeyes head coach, Earle Bruce went out on top with a 23-20 win against the Wolverines at Michigan Stadium.

The win did not come easy as Ohio State rallied from a 13-0 deficit in the first half to score 23 of the last 30 points in the game.

Bruce would finish with a record of 81-26-1 in nine seasons at Ohio State.

4) Ohio State at Michigan 1997: Charles Woodson solidifies the Heisman Trophy

Charles Woodson's 77-yard punt return heard across the entire state of Michigan will never be forgotten as it spearheaded his run to winning the 1997 Heisman Trophy over Tennessee's Peyton Manning and Washington State's Ryan Leaf.

Woodson's return was reminiscent of Desmond Howard's in 1991 against the Buckeyes and lives as part of the legacy of the rivalry  game.

3) Michigan at Ohio State 2002: The Buckeyes' last stand to win the Big Ten

With a trip to the National Championship game at the Fiesta Bowl and an undefeated season at stake, Ohio State's defense needed a stop on Michigan's final drive of the game.

Will Allen's game-clinching interception as time expired clinched Ohio State's 14-9 win over Michigan at Ohio Stadium and would capture its 29th Big Ten Championship.

2) Ohio State at Michigan 2001: Jim Tressel backs up a pre-season guarantee

Jim Tressel's guarantee of beating Michigan in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the football field paid off as Ohio State would pull a 26-20 upset against a Michigan team looking to win the Big Ten title.

The win would serve as the changing of the guard in terms of dominance in the rivalry as Ohio State has won 12 of the last 14 games against Michigan.

1) Ohio State at Michigan 1991: Goodbye, Hello Heisman!

The above words are all you need to know about Desmond Howard's 93-yard punt return for a touchdown and lead to the famous Heisman pose in the end zone.

Michigan would go on to beat Ohio State 31-3, its biggest margin of victory since 1945 when it won 58-6 over the Buckeyes.
