Big East mid-week recap for Dec. 13

With finals going on across the majority of the Big East schools, this week’s schedule has been very light across the board as Saturday represents the majority of action in the league.

Tuesday, Dec. 11:

Pennsylvania 78, No. 17 Villanova 75

The 25-game winning streak over Big Five opponents came to a halt as the Wildcats lost to the Quakers in a close affair.

In defeat, Colin Gillespie stepped up with a career-high 21 points, while Phil Booth scored all 18 in the second half.

Pennsylvania had its way on the boards with a 35-22 advantage over Villanova.

Wednesday, Dec. 12:

DePaul 104, Chicago State 70

After being held to eight points at Northwestern on Dec. 8, DePaul’s Max Strus bounced back with a game-high 27 points and 8 rebounds.

Ball efficiency was at its peak as DePaul finished with 24 assists on 35 field goal makes with Eli Cain being the ring leader with a season-high 11 assists.

Jalen Coleman-Lands continued his progression in DePaul’s offense with his fourth double-digit scoring output in the last five games with 13 points.
